New England equaled their top unbeaten stretch from the Brady era as they defeated division rivals the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football

Rookie Henderson was the standout with three touchdowns as the Patriots notched an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since star signal-caller Brady's last year with the team in the 2019 season

Quarterback Maye threw for 281 yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts

Victory increases the New England's lead at the summit of the division as they moved to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after falling to two wins and eight losses

The visitors had scored first at Gillette Stadium with QB Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to cap the Jets' first possession

But the home team answered in the second quarter as the rookie rushed for two seven-yard TDs before the running back hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone midway through the third quarter to make it 21 to 7

"It was a crucial moment for him rising to the challenge, and it's been fantastic for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback commented on the rookie. "He aims to be outstanding."

Justin Fields connected with Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to reduce the lead for the visitors but Borregales kicked a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the home side closed out the win
