Unveiling a Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Piece of Feces in a Mission to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have found plenty of entertaining creations from small studios. However, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired side-scrolling game includes a protagonist that is actually a dung striving to navigate to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."

The gameplay is easy to grasp: you only need a jump control. Throughout 150 stages, you'll face mini-bosses and unlock a store to purchase outfits for your dung hero.

Time your movements with caution, as a error requires restarting the level. Jump using air pockets to propel yourself higher, traverse crumbling surfaces, and touch buttons to unlock hidden paths. Collect coins and use them on more difficult levels as gameplay gets crazy.

Visually, the game features neon environments and a killer background music. The simple art featuring morphing geometric shapes could recall gamers of classic titles like Earthbound.

Even though difficult to recall similar titles where you are a coiled turd, interactive entertainment have long incorporated toilet humor. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can make explosives from protagonist excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as plant food. Naturally, this theme is present heavily in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its silly premise, Unko Technica has already received impressive awards, including being named best at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is available now on Steam, with the final release planned to launch on PC on November 19.
